Note, that some libraries intended for the creation of fake data—for instance Faker—provide the means to create data safely as per the below.
Telephone Numbers
Ofcom provide safe numbers for use in TV and radio drama programmes.
IP addresses
IPv4
RFC 5737 provides a range of reserved blocks:
- 192.0.2.0/24
- 198.51.100.0/24
- 203.0.113.0/24
IPv6
RFC 3849 provides the same for IPv6:
- 2001:DB8::/32
Domains, hostnames and email addresses
Several reserved domain name are provided by RFC 6761, including the classics:
- example.com
- example.net
- example.org
Credit cards
Stripe provide details of various credit card brands, from various countries which can be used for testing.
